Against my better judgment, I decided to actually watch the debate tonight between the two presidential candidates for 2024. I just have this thing about needing to see/hear for myself to make up my mind. I’m starting to reconsider that idea again now. (Back in 2017, I took a step back from being completely immersed in politics. For my mental health. I’m there again.)
You know what I saw? A narcissistic idiot and a bumbling dotard.
Neither one of them could properly stay on-point, and they both consistently DID NOT FINISH their sentences, even! These guys were all over the place. Calling each other names and arguing about their fucking golf handicap? Seriously?? SMH. It’s bad enough when Marjorie Taylor Greene acts like a mean girl in committee but to have the two candidates for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA act like children is just fucking shameful.
Some highlights:
- Trump: “most [insert anything in existence ever] ever” and “greatest in the history of our country” and “like nobody’s ever seen/had before” – some of his greatest hits.
- Biden: “The idea” – if I never hear this phrase again, it will be too soon
- Trump said he had that biggest heart on that stage. *blink* *blink blink* *blink blink blink*
- Trump repeatedly saying that the rest of the world loved us and respected us when he was President but doesn’t respect us or like us because Biden is President. smh
- Trump said at one point that something Biden did was “the most embarrassing day in the history of our country.” No, sir. The most embarrassing day in the history of our country was when you were elected President. Let’s not have a repeat of that day.
- Getting closer to the end of the debate – I don’t remember what they were arguing about at that point – Trump said, “Let’s not act like children.” … OMG, sir! WHAT??? I can’t remember if I laughed out loud or almost fainted.
- Also, while I realize it’s par for the course (golf pun intended in this case) that debate candidates often don’t stay on-point and answer questions, there was one, in particular, tonight that really pissed me off. The topic came around to the opioid crisis, and Tapper asked Trump what he would do to help Americans in the throes of addiction. He rambled on about the previous question and NEVER answered this question about addiction. Then, the question was formed again and proposed to Biden who, also, never answered the question. Thrown BACK to Trump on a redirect, he STILL didn’t answer the question. Neither one of them came anywhere near answering that question, and it infuriated me.
So, yeah, that’s pretty much it. I just want to reiterate the narcissistic idiot and bumbling dotard (which, until tonight, I thought was “doddard”). Also, it’s so sad to me that these two men are the “best” each party has to offer for this highly-venerated position. Do better, America.
